Our first LCV Travel trip to Italy and the romantic city of Verona awaits

This city is most famous for being the setting of star-crossed lovers ‘Romeo & Juliet’. There is a dedicated house (and balcony) for you to visit. It is said you can attach your own ‘love wishes’ within the confines of the building/walls (this practice has been under scrutiny given wear and tear of public use). People also send love letters to one of the various resident ‘Juliet’ agony aunts who answer them.

Between the meandering Adige river (for all you day cruise lovers) – this medieval old town and former Roman trade centre boasts a huge first-century amphitheatre which hosts concerts & opera events and played a major historical role during World War II, as it was a fascist control centre between 1938 – 1945. Today, it is a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Given its compact size, Verona is great for walking around, taking in the charm and enjoying the Italian food & drink culture. For coffee lovers, an espresso is a must. Verona is a great spot from which to see some other destination highlights and so you may like to extend your stay in Italy.

To the West and in 35 minutes by train, you can reach one of Lake Garda’s more established lakeside resorts. To the East, Venice is only 1 hour 10 mins by train. To the South, Bologna (known as the food capital of Italy) is around 50 minutes by train.

All three properties have been carefully chosen and all offer a city centre location, are within close proximity of one another and have received excellent reviews. To help, I have noted the square metre (sqm) room sizes. For your information an average hotel room is around 15 sqm.
