Who are we?

London City Voices is so much more than your average London choir… We are a community, a group of friends, an increasingly-large group of drinking buddies… and we are also a dynamic non-religious, non-audition community London choir.

We have three branches: West End on Monday evenings, City of London on Wednesday evenings and Waterloo on Thursday evenings. We rehearse in separate locations, and then perform at least twice a year all together. Have a look at our videos to see this in action. The aim of London City Voices is to give people an opportunity to sing their hearts out up to four times a week after work. We come together to have some fun and make a great sound (and then go to the pub!). We start rehearsals at 6:30pm and finish at 8pm (occasionally a little later). Be assured that we're a big choir, and we usually have several new attendees every evening, so you're unlikely to be the only newbie. It's difficult to say how many we are in total, as people come and go from term to term, but it's probably anywhere between 350 and 500 people across the four branches.

Our repertoire

Our main repertoire is drawn from contemporary pop and folk/traditional tunes. Examples of what we sing include:
  • Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen
  • Ghost Town, The Specials
  • Mr Blue Sky, ELO
  • 80s Dance Medley
  • Like a Prayer, Madonna
  • Life on Mars, David Bowie
  • Faith, George Michael
  • Rock With You, Michael Jackson
  • National Express, The Divine Comedy
  • Birdhouse, They Might Be Giants
  • Eternal Flame, The Bangles
  • Don’t Stop Believing, Journey
  • Sit Down, James
  • One Day Like This, Elbow
  • Total Eclipse, Bonnie Tyler
  • Black Velvet, Alannah Myles
  • Break My Stride, Matthew Wilder
  • Thinking Out Loud, Ed Sheeran
  • Video Killed The Radio Star, The Buggles

Beginners welcome

No experience necessary and you don’t need to be able to read music – complete beginners are welcome. We are an audition-free choir, the important thing is to want to sing! No need to book, just turn up to any of our rehearsals! Your first session is a free taster session. Check the Schedule page to make sure that there’s a rehearsal on the day you’re planning to come. Termly membership of one branch gives you automatic membership of the others, so if you miss your regular one for any reason, you can make it up by coming to any of the other branches.

Pay as you go

  • You can pay as you go: £17 per session on the door. Note that if you choose to come twice in a single week you will have to pay twice. This is not the case if you pay per term or per year.

Pay by term

  • Most people prefer to pay by term: £140 per term. (12-14 weeks), that’s £10-11 per session if you attend once per week, less if you go to a couple of sessions. Payment for the term is non-refundable.

Pay yearly

  • You can also pay yearly: £350 for a full year (3 terms) - that works out to about £8.75 per session if you attend every week. Payment for the full year is non-refundable.

We’re flexible with timings and offer the opportunity to pay in two instalments. Most people choose to pay termly as it works out to much better value. If you join late in the term then we will adjust your payment so you are not paying for sessions you couldn’t have attended (we start adjusting this after the first five or six weeks). The payments for the full year are non-refundable.

COVID-19: All our rehearsals are online for the moment. If you're not already a member sign up to the newsletter in the footer, within a few days you should receive an email with details of the next rehearsal. Please keep your eye on this page for updates. Stay safe!
